AdoptUSKids educates families about foster care and adoption and gives child welfare professionals information and support to help them improve their services. We also maintain the nation’s only federally funded photolisting service that connects waiting children with families.

Our mission: Raise public awareness about the need for foster and adoptive families for children in the public child welfare system.
Assist US states, territories, and tribes to recruit, engage, develop and support foster and adoptive families

CASA of Los Angeles (CASA/LA) organizes the community to take action and advocate for children and families in LA County’s overburdened child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Through an intentional, restorative and culturally relevant lens, we train committed, consistent and caring adults who provide equitable access to resources and life-affirming connections.

The Children’s Foundation of America supports high-quality programs for children through solicitation of funds, engagement of volunteers and partnerships within the community. Through its board of trustees, staff and team of volunteers, the Foundation currently provides support to programs that address the health, safety, well-being and education of foster children, initiatives that advocate for children’s issues and community-based organizations that assist children in need. Our team is 100% volunteer-run!

Creating a Family is the national adoption & foster care education and support nonprofit. Our mission is to strengthen and inspire adoptive, foster & kinship parents and the professionals who support them. Our vision is that every adopted and foster child has a family who understands their unique gifts and challenges and is equipped to help them thrive. All of our resources are expert-based and trauma-informed.

California State Foster Parent Association
Our Association was established in 1972 by a group of foster parents in San Francisco who met around a kitchen table and came up with the idea to create a support system for foster parents in California. We now have over 25 chapters throughout the state and a total of almost one thousand members that join our Association annually.

Our Main focus is to address issues of Foster Parents/Resource Families in California.

Lead the efforts of young people in and from foster care to become connected, educated, inspired and represented so they can realize their personal potential and contribute to a better life for their peers.

We believe that young people in and from foster care deserve to be:
CONNECTED to a peer support network and to people in the community who care.
EDUCATED about their rights, how the foster care system works, self-advocacy strategies, and how to locate resources to help them succeed.
INSPIRED and empowered through the stories of people who have succeeded after foster care.
REPRESENTED by having their voices heard by policymakers, the public, and others who influence the system that profoundly impacts their lives.

CHAMPS is a national campaign to spur policy improvements nationally and in states to ensure children and youth in foster care experience the highest quality parenting. CHAMPS is led by a coalition of partners of researchers, advocates, pediatricians, faith-based leaders, foster parents, youth, service providers and others.

CHAMPS offers a policy playbook and related tools to help improve efforts to recruit, retain and support stable foster parenting.

"The National Foster Parent Association is a champion for the thousands of families that open their hearts and their homes to the over 400,000 children in out-of-home placement in the US. The NFPA believes in the importance of family-based care for foster children and that every child deserves support and a permanent family."

Advokids was founded in 1993 by three San Francisco Bay Area child welfare attorneys and a child psychologist. They responded to the alarming number of children entering foster care, experiencing multiple placements, and lingering in temporary care, often for several years.

The founders brought their legal, psychological, and social work training and experience to Advokids. Their experience taught them that the early years of a child’s life set the stage for all that follows and hold the greatest danger for long-term damage and the greatest potential for successful intervention.

California had already adopted progressive laws requiring the courts to pay special attention to the permanency needs of children in foster care, but the laws were poorly implemented. Using the legislative mandates and the strong childhood mental health data that supported every child’s need for timely permanence, the co-founders set out to hold the foster care system accountable. They launched a free telephone hotline, created a legal educational website, and began conducting regular legal trainings for attorneys and child welfare professionals.
