What is an Annotated Bibliography?

An annotated bibliography is like a regular bibliography with additional information about the source, generally a summary and evaluation.

The annotations may include the following:

  1. Summary - What is the source about?
  2. Evaluation - Why is this source a good source to use? Is it unbiased? Based on authority? Does the date matter to your work?
  3. Purpose - How are you going to use this source to support your paper?

Teachers usually have their own criteria for annotations, so make sure you ask!
