Gather the Right Information

For books or other physical (in hand) formats, you will need to make sure you get the following information:
•    Author name(s)
•    Title (book or article and journal)
•    Publisher information which includes: publisher name, location, date of publication
•    Volume number if a journal or reference material
•    Page number

If you are using electronic formats, most databases will have a citation creation tool. If you don't see one or you are citing a website, then you will need the following information:
•    Database name if electronic
•    Article or webpage name
•    Website name
•    URL if a website
•    DOI (digital object identifier)
